Expo / Trade fair

With much oomph and gusto SSA appeared at the Metcash Expo in a bright contemporary stand. The event overall was bigger and better and it was pleasing from SSA’s perspective to be a part of the vibrancy that marks the event every year. Naturally through new ownership the SSA format was different and unique  and attracted much attention from all attendees.

Of particular significance was the stand layout which was clean, bright, and uncluttered. This provided for clean displays of some of SSA’s sharp POS hardware, with emphasis around the highly successful DigiPos range.

The integrated camera security  system running live on the stand also attracted a lot of attention. And serious visitors took advantage of the relaxing couched seating arrangements, while others watched on to some exciting Back Office demonstrations.

The theme this year focused on ‘Trading – How the locals like it” and for SSA there couldn’t be a more apt slogan. SSA has been proud of its reputation to provide solutions the way the locals like it, and looks forward to doing more of the same.

The show also offered outgoing Owner and Director David Hagen the chance to farewell many friends and customers of SSA. David enjoyed meeting you all and once again thanks you for your patronage for all these years.

It was a great show for SSA and we look forward to doing it bigger and better next year.

Scanning Systems Special Point Of Sale Support Event At Sofitel

There was much regret by retailers over the non-attendance of POS vendors at the recent Metcash expo. Scanning Systems Australia was one such absent company and as a regular stall holder at the event, fielded many calls from grocery retailers enquiring as to it where-abouts this year.

Thankfully, SSA ran a special event the day after the expo finished, where 2 separate session were well attended by numerous IGA retailers. Given the gala dinner the night before it was a seriously pleasant surprise to have so many retailers turn up, and SSA responded in kind.

Each session kicked off with a short introduction from National Sales Manager, Stuart Harris. “We were keen to emphasize the business enhancing power that Profit Track has today” Stuart comments, adding “with being so busy most retailers do not realize the abundance of features they have at their fingertips that will help them improve their business and profitability.” Stuart challenged attendees to put more commitment to making the greatest use of their Profit Track system.

Managing Director, David Hagen, followed up with a powerful session on many new and existing features in Profit Track. David drilled down to the nitty-gritty and inspired attendees with useful content on “where am I today” indicators, and stock turn analysis. “We all need the ability to see where we are financially at any given point,” David points out, “and many POS system simply cannot deliver. And with the ability to monitor stock turn information for each and every product ….this adds a very useful piece of detail. We go that extra mile”.

The sessions finished with some distinctly comprehensive training from Quality Assurance Manager Greg de Weger. Greg covered a number of key components in Profit Track that kept everyone riveted beyond the allocated session times.

All in all it was clear to see that everyone received some exceptional content. And SSA made it abundantly clear that it is very much interested in aiding business retailers to achieve performance in their business’s.

Especially those using Profit Track.

IGA retailers treated to more advanced POS software

The SSA stall at the TIR Expo in Hobart over the weekend of 21-22 May was a sensation attracting interest from both Profit Track customers and users of other POS systems. As one of the brighter technology stalls, State Manager Sandy Wallis and Sales Manager Stuart Harris, were at times swamped with visitors. The overflow attracted attention including a quick run-up by the Retail World correspondent.

Of interest to many was the integrated DVR security that now bundles with Profit Track POS. The ability to run live camera feeds through the POS lanes as well as back office servers has got everybody excited. Orders were through the roof. “This is a new dimension to retailing” Stuart Harris comments, “now it is possible for activity to be monitored in key locations throughout the shop, including at the checkouts.  Not only is it possible to view live footage, but footage from any instance can be recalled in seconds.”

The application at the POS lane is significant. For customer service this provides the operator the ability to relate to any transaction and replay for the customer. This naturally dispels issues and arguments very quickly, while reducing the stress that may arise from a customer confrontation. Having visibility of the shop from the POS lanes also assists significantly with security, and more importantly staff safety.

Inventory Control and Automatic Ordering were also targeted, with Profit Track now being a well designed and effective inventory management software. Sandy Wallis demonstrated the capacity of Profit Track to release capital from redundant or non performing stock items, as well as just simply maintaining an appropriate stock level for average sales. Intelligent ordering aids the process by ordering only what is required for the next periods sales.

“We can see this visibly improving bottom-line performance in stores that have implemented both options” says Sandy, “and when you are identifying with improvements of 1-2% to GP then return on investment is not a difficult justification.”

Visitors were quick to comment on how simple the system was to use. Watching Sandy step through ordering and stock management procedures provided store owners full view of the way that Profit Track connects with the physical process.

Another extremely successful presentation from Scanning Systems Australia.
