Profit Track
Mining accommodation and services provider MAC services Group (THE MAC) installed the first of many POS systems to support their growing portfolio of mining accommodation villages. The MAC have been looking for a long time and finally found what they were looking for in Profit Track.
A mixture of requirements sees new Point of Sale Touch screen technology being introduced to on site convenience stores and bars, replacing the older Quest keypad gear. The system provides for better management of all the items that the MAC sell including the drink mix portions required in the tavern.
The MAC look to add speed and service at the pay-points, with system capacity to provide quick response times for product lookup, as well as all the information to resolve a non-scan or defective barcode. In the rare situation of unknown product, the cashier can access the MAC product database to get the information needed direct from the touch screen.
Profit Track has also been chosen for its stock management and intelligent ordering features. The software provided business features that the MAC could not locate in any other POS system. These well developed features provided the means for better stock control and ordering process so that there could be confidence in product procurement in locations which are extremely remote.
SSA is an enthusiastic partner to the MAC business requirements, and nurtured the village at Dysart into a live sight without a hitch. SSA commends the MAC on their decision to implement Profit Track and congratulates the MAC Retail team on a successful implementation at Dysart Village.

Another busy December for the expanding POS company
Just when you think things should be winding down, SSA is under the hammer to get out a record number of installations. “We are being sorely tested in a pivotal month” states Managing Director David Hagen, “and it’s all hands on deck. While we certainly enjoy the business levels at the moment, trying to ensure we provide good implementation practice at present is very demanding. Especially so close to Christmas”
Due to the nature of the retail climate in 2010, it should have been a quiet year for POS retailers. The retail volume is showing some quiet months and has been trending downward over the last 6 months. And yet SSA is looking at a very strong sales year with still more exciting prospects in the wind.
And the strong push over the last couple of months has seen SSA rise to the challenge. “ Fuel is performing very well for us at present” states David, “ and we have a sharp product for the fuel market right now. We believe that its lifting revenues at sites where its implemented, and you cannot argue with that!” he exclaims.
And SSA continues to reel in the Grocery orders as well. Consistent grocery retail roll-outs have maintained a steady momentum throughout the year, surprising the management team. “ Its fair to say that its competitive at present” comments National Sales Manager, Stuart Harris. “There are leaner opportunities in the food retail sector, but having a quality product like Profit Track gives us an edge in a tough market.”
“Because we can show the retailer how they can visibly lift performance – operationally, and profitably” says Stuart, “we can overcome the common concerns people have with other vendors products.” SSA have just rolled out 2 new IGA’ stores, one at Wellington Point, Brisbane and another in Toowoomba, virtually back to back openings. “its that sort of momentum that keeps us on our toes” says Stuart.
There are many reasons to discover what SSA are doing, and they provide a much needed commercial POS systems that delivers in more ways than one. Take the time to find out why so many retailers are installing Profit Track so close to Christmas.
Scanning Systems enhances inventory control with more accurate automatic ordering
Scanning Systems Australia continues to invest in its primary application Profit Track, with some outstanding results. A lot of thought has gone into the ordering process, and now there is highly configurable ability to manage automatic ordering for most times of the year. This development has sent the benchmark higher for POS inventory management systems.
It is possible to select the period of sales that corresponds to the current trading pattern, or current promotional program and order accordingly. Once in place Profit Track automatically orders the right stock for the period. It does this by taking the selected period of sales history, takes off the highest sales week and the lowest sales week, and averages the remaining weeks of the selected period.
Additionally a boost facility is available to increase or decrease the order according to the lift or decrease of the current period. For example, running into Xmas you may find that turnover is 5% up on the previous year. Adding a 5% boost to the already automatically adjusted order brings the levels up to the right mark for the ensuing expected sales.
Already in the system, the ability to “hold off” and have a “Last chance” purchase allows you to manage an order to fit with your promotional program and, more importantly, the investment buying process. These two items are adjustable prior to release of the auto order and can mean the difference of $1000’s of dollars. Click on either one and the relevant product are listed immediately.
This is the life blood of your business, and having a system that can provide this level of detail is crucial in the tough retail climate today. Other key features have created more accuracy in this process…… click her to find out more.

The Right POS Solution For The Latest Concept Store
IGA opened another strategic site in the heart of Brisbane last week with the opening of Fortitude Valley IGA. Owners Gaurav and Vishal Bansal were very excited to open their second store in less than 8 months. The concept store is uniquely designed for a space in a revamped development office block, and is supported by a range of cafes, small restaurants and fast food outlets.
The checkout system comprises 5 lanes of the latest DigiPos checkout hardware, running Profit Track POS modules connected to a full Profit Track Back Office suite. Having chosen Profit Track for their first shop the Bansal brothers were certain about what they wanted, having found Profit Track to be much more useful than products in other business that they own.
Having discovered the capacity of Profit Track to enhance business process in the store, Fortitude Valley is running inventory control, electronic invoicing, and automatic ordering from the outset. These features ensure optimum control over stock and cash flow management as well as creating operational efficiency within the store.
The store is also running SSA’s advanced Guardian security software. This software runs integrated to the checkouts providing visibility at multiple locations throughout the store, including the checkouts. Checkout staff can monitor suspicious activity anywhere in the store, and often they will be the first staff to notice customers behaving oddly. The site can also me monitored remotely providing owner the ability to keep tabs on in-store activities.
This store is an example of a smart retail structure, and the site is well worth a visit. When you visit take some time to observe the checkout arrangement and the magnificent POS technology in operation.

Scanning Systems Special Point Of Sale Support Event At Sofitel
There was much regret by retailers over the non-attendance of POS vendors at the recent Metcash expo. Scanning Systems Australia was one such absent company and as a regular stall holder at the event, fielded many calls from grocery retailers enquiring as to it where-abouts this year.
Thankfully, SSA ran a special event the day after the expo finished, where 2 separate session were well attended by numerous IGA retailers. Given the gala dinner the night before it was a seriously pleasant surprise to have so many retailers turn up, and SSA responded in kind.
Each session kicked off with a short introduction from National Sales Manager, Stuart Harris. “We were keen to emphasize the business enhancing power that Profit Track has today” Stuart comments, adding “with being so busy most retailers do not realize the abundance of features they have at their fingertips that will help them improve their business and profitability.” Stuart challenged attendees to put more commitment to making the greatest use of their Profit Track system.
Managing Director, David Hagen, followed up with a powerful session on many new and existing features in Profit Track. David drilled down to the nitty-gritty and inspired attendees with useful content on “where am I today” indicators, and stock turn analysis. “We all need the ability to see where we are financially at any given point,” David points out, “and many POS system simply cannot deliver. And with the ability to monitor stock turn information for each and every product ….this adds a very useful piece of detail. We go that extra mile”.
The sessions finished with some distinctly comprehensive training from Quality Assurance Manager Greg de Weger. Greg covered a number of key components in Profit Track that kept everyone riveted beyond the allocated session times.
All in all it was clear to see that everyone received some exceptional content. And SSA made it abundantly clear that it is very much interested in aiding business retailers to achieve performance in their business’s.
Corporate point of sale contracts are lining up.
On the back of pivotal international roll outs Scanning Systems is attracting some exciting attention on the global market. Currently rolling out 50 plus stores for another notable international retailer, Scanning Systems has now been seen as a viable option against much bigger heavyweights including Retalix, IBM, and NCR. The impression that core system “Profit Track” is having is creating interest in many grocery circles.
“One of the key features of Profit Track is it speed and effectiveness for larger retailers” says Managing Director, David Hagen, “and the ability to handle host files both at head office and at store level.”
“ Profit Track has been specifically designed to competently manage host data across a range of significant technological variations, and the ease at which our technology can be adjusted to meet the requirements of group retailers intrigues our prospects significantly. They get quite excited about it.”
Many advanced techniques have been added to Profit Track to add to its effectiveness as a business tool. Product purchasing is an area where profitability can be improved dramatically. Profit Track intuitively calculates the purchase trends and applies this to the operational KPI’s and the result is distinctive gross margin improvement.
And taking all the guesswork away from the checkout significantly reduces point of sale shrinkage. Profit Track provides for a range of integrated services and this ensures that transactions occur via a single terminal. With the ability to reference the database quickly the checkout operator need never call for floor information again, and this aids the service process as well.
Profit Track is now at the forefront of POS technology and the retail industry is taking notice here and abroad. The retailers now using Profit Track are now singing its praises, and maybe its time to see why!

Why SSA point of sale solution is more appealing to retailers when capex is under pressure..
Some products are just simply irresistible! There is something about them that appeals independent circumstances or perceptions.
In recent workshops it was a common unprovoked comment by attendees….
“We just love the software”… – referring to the
POS software “Profit Track” written at
Scanning Systems Australia.
It was evident to all that Profit Track has become one of Australia’s best loved POS systems, and even through a product demonstration, the system would sell itself purely on its capability. It is not difficult to see the change in peoples faces once they see the functionality and the ease of use of this advanced business solution.
But what is that really gets people hooked?
On discussing this with several users the answer would often be…”Its just so simple to use, and it is easy to look at” as a first up comment. By this they refer to the simple single screen efficiency, and the distinctive blue hue that is so easy on the eye. And if you have been looking at a screen totally white or white with grey, you notice this feature immediately when you maximize the Profit Track screen. The eyes simply relax as the blue screen appears.
The simplicity factor is also a key. SSA Managing Director, David Hagen, has always had a strong philosophy on his product….”build it better than the next one. Give the market more than what it is expecting”. This does not mean that you have to have every widget, but a specific focus to make functions simple and within a minimum number of actions has been key to the design of Profit Track from the beginning.
Click here to review why profit Track ranks as a superior POS solution.
And simplicity is where many applications fall down. When it takes too long or there are too many clicks any operator would become frustrated, and the result is a negative energy towards the software. The strong energy that prevails around Profit Track is testimony to its general appeal amongst its user community, and indicates the way that Profit Track does assist business operations fluently.
Add to this visible financial net performance throughout the business and this become a POS system that’s hard to beat.
