SSA NEWS
With much oomph and gusto SSA appeared at the Metcash Expo in a bright contemporary stand. The event overall was bigger and better and it was pleasing from SSA’s perspective to be a part of the vibrancy that marks the event every year. Naturally through new ownership the SSA format was different and unique and attracted much attention from all attendees.
Of particular significance was the stand layout which was clean, bright, and uncluttered. This provided for clean displays of some of SSA’s sharp POS hardware, with emphasis around the highly successful DigiPos range.
The integrated camera security system running live on the stand also attracted a lot of attention. And serious visitors took advantage of the relaxing couched seating arrangements, while others watched on to some exciting Back Office demonstrations.
The theme this year focused on ‘Trading – How the locals like it” and for SSA there couldn’t be a more apt slogan. SSA has been proud of its reputation to provide solutions the way the locals like it, and looks forward to doing more of the same.
The show also offered outgoing Owner and Director David Hagen the chance to farewell many friends and customers of SSA. David enjoyed meeting you all and once again thanks you for your patronage for all these years.
It was a great show for SSA and we look forward to doing it bigger and better next year.
Mining accommodation and services provider MAC services Group (THE MAC) installed the first of many POS systems to support their growing portfolio of mining accommodation villages. The MAC have been looking for a long time and finally found what they were looking for in Profit Track.
A mixture of requirements sees new Point of Sale Touch screen technology being introduced to on site convenience stores and bars, replacing the older Quest keypad gear. The system provides for better management of all the items that the MAC sell including the drink mix portions required in the tavern.
The MAC look to add speed and service at the pay-points, with system capacity to provide quick response times for product lookup, as well as all the information to resolve a non-scan or defective barcode. In the rare situation of unknown product, the cashier can access the MAC product database to get the information needed direct from the touch screen.
Profit Track has also been chosen for its stock management and intelligent ordering features. The software provided business features that the MAC could not locate in any other POS system. These well developed features provided the means for better stock control and ordering process so that there could be confidence in product procurement in locations which are extremely remote.
SSA is an enthusiastic partner to the MAC business requirements, and nurtured the village at Dysart into a live sight without a hitch. SSA commends the MAC on their decision to implement Profit Track and congratulates the MAC Retail team on a successful implementation at Dysart Village.

Another busy December for the expanding POS company
Just when you think things should be winding down, SSA is under the hammer to get out a record number of installations. “We are being sorely tested in a pivotal month” states Managing Director David Hagen, “and it’s all hands on deck. While we certainly enjoy the business levels at the moment, trying to ensure we provide good implementation practice at present is very demanding. Especially so close to Christmas”
Due to the nature of the retail climate in 2010, it should have been a quiet year for POS retailers. The retail volume is showing some quiet months and has been trending downward over the last 6 months. And yet SSA is looking at a very strong sales year with still more exciting prospects in the wind.
And the strong push over the last couple of months has seen SSA rise to the challenge. “ Fuel is performing very well for us at present” states David, “ and we have a sharp product for the fuel market right now. We believe that its lifting revenues at sites where its implemented, and you cannot argue with that!” he exclaims.
And SSA continues to reel in the Grocery orders as well. Consistent grocery retail roll-outs have maintained a steady momentum throughout the year, surprising the management team. “ Its fair to say that its competitive at present” comments National Sales Manager, Stuart Harris. “There are leaner opportunities in the food retail sector, but having a quality product like Profit Track gives us an edge in a tough market.”
“Because we can show the retailer how they can visibly lift performance – operationally, and profitably” says Stuart, “we can overcome the common concerns people have with other vendors products.” SSA have just rolled out 2 new IGA’ stores, one at Wellington Point, Brisbane and another in Toowoomba, virtually back to back openings. “its that sort of momentum that keeps us on our toes” says Stuart.
There are many reasons to discover what SSA are doing, and they provide a much needed commercial POS systems that delivers in more ways than one. Take the time to find out why so many retailers are installing Profit Track so close to Christmas.
Latest Fuel POS Release Has Fuel Retailers Clamoring
It’s fair to say that Scanning Systems Australia has been focusing heavily in the fuel market. And over the last few years Profit Track has been enhanced significantly to meet the needs of the fuel retail business’s both large and small.
A significant benefit of this commitment has been continuous feedback about how the system is working in fuel stations. With every new release there has been a prominent enhancement to one component or another, and this has been directly attributed to what fuel retailers are feeding back.
The net result is that in the last 6 months SSA has been involved with a number of significant group roll-outs for fuel customers. And while this is a nice shining light for the company, it speaks volumes for the product. A true testimony for any application is its demand in the market place, and it can be said that Profit Track walks the talk in this market.
One of the most difficult processes at any fuel site is the accurate management of wet stock, and providing correct cost averages for price management and profitability. Profit Track’s unique and well designed wet stock management takes this process to an entirely new level. Now it’s possible to operate at average pricing structures that are very close to the mark.

The Right POS Solution For The Latest Concept Store
IGA opened another strategic site in the heart of Brisbane last week with the opening of Fortitude Valley IGA. Owners Gaurav and Vishal Bansal were very excited to open their second store in less than 8 months. The concept store is uniquely designed for a space in a revamped development office block, and is supported by a range of cafes, small restaurants and fast food outlets.
The checkout system comprises 5 lanes of the latest DigiPos checkout hardware, running Profit Track POS modules connected to a full Profit Track Back Office suite. Having chosen Profit Track for their first shop the Bansal brothers were certain about what they wanted, having found Profit Track to be much more useful than products in other business that they own.
Having discovered the capacity of Profit Track to enhance business process in the store, Fortitude Valley is running inventory control, electronic invoicing, and automatic ordering from the outset. These features ensure optimum control over stock and cash flow management as well as creating operational efficiency within the store.
The store is also running SSA’s advanced Guardian security software. This software runs integrated to the checkouts providing visibility at multiple locations throughout the store, including the checkouts. Checkout staff can monitor suspicious activity anywhere in the store, and often they will be the first staff to notice customers behaving oddly. The site can also me monitored remotely providing owner the ability to keep tabs on in-store activities.
This store is an example of a smart retail structure, and the site is well worth a visit. When you visit take some time to observe the checkout arrangement and the magnificent POS technology in operation.
